Shenzhen and Hong Kong are neighbouring cities, separated only by the narrow Shenzhen River. In Hong Kong, it has become common for residents to refer to their trips to Mainland China as 'crossing the river'. This trend has been on the rise as more people from Hong Kong are venturing into Shenzhen's Qianhai area for work, business opportunities, and even to establish their residences. Qianhai, located in the west of Shenzhen's Nanshan District, is seen by many as a promising starting point and a significant milestone in achieving their goals. As we commemorate the 25th anniversary of Hong Kong's handover, our documentary series will focus on the stories of Hong Kong residents who have 'crossed the river' and successfully established their businesses in Qianhai. Through their experiences, we aim to showcase the new vitality of the Greater Bay Area and provide a fresh perspective on the lives of Hong Kong residents in this dynamic region.
