Introduction

A documentary on courage, endurance and dignity.
In China, not only is economy growing rapidly, there is also phenomenal growth in social development and other domains. In addition to the 2008 Olympics, China is also hosting the 2007 Special Olympics World Summer Games in Shanghai. This event marks the first World Summer Games in an Asian country. It also implies the increasing acceptance and caring of people with intellectual disabilities in the Chinese society. Let Me Win ─ Children of the Special Olympics in China captured the excitement of the 4th Special Olympics China National Games held in Harbin, Heilongjiang Province, and revealed the touching stories of the athletes and their families. "Let me win, but if I cannot win, let me be brave in the attempt" is not only the oath of the Special Olympics, but a true reflection of the spirit and attitude of the athletes. Hearing-impaired Xiao-bao swam bravely with encouragement from his mother, brain-paralysed Fang-miao dribbled basketball and intellectual-disabled Yu Yang ran with great difficulty but joyfully... They all demonstrated extraordinary courage, endurance and human dignity. There may only be one gold medal winner in each competition, but … every athlete has triumphed over disability to become a winner!
