Shing-Tung Yau was born in 1949 in Shantou of Guangdong province. While he was young, he immigrated with his parents to Hong Kong. He once studied in Chinese University of Hong Kong and University of California, Berkeley. Subsequently, he was appointed the head of the Department of Mathematics in Harvard University. For almost 30 years, this international mathematician has been travelling to various countries. His greatest wish in life is to help China become a strong nation.
